Who Needs their Hearing Tested?

The purpose of conducting regular audiometric screening of workers in their workplace is to help identify and inform them of any change in their hearing. Testing results can also assist employers in the detection of areas for improvement in their hearing conservation program.

Victoria (and NSW from 1 January 2017) the following WHS guidelines apply:

If an employer provides hearing protectors to control their employees’ noise exposure, so that it does not exceed the statutory noise exposure standard, then they are also required to conduct audiometric testing:
a) within
3 months of an employee commencing the work (Baseline Screening); and
b) in any event, at least every 2 years
(Monitoring Screening).
